*****GAME THREAD: San Jose State @ No. 7 Texas*****

Sloppy plays to end the 2nd qtr. Still a lot to clean up and get right. Defense is playing way too soft for me. Run lanes are more open than I was expecting and the CBs are playing soft. Thank goodness for all the fumbles.

And our running game is sucking.

Hopefully the penalties and the lack of 3rd down conversions can be cleaned up as we get more game experience. Need it to happen.

I know the opponent was not much of a challenge but man this team looks very average for the amount of talent. Compared to the teams the prior two years, this team is a solid downgrade. Two more games to sharpen our pencils.

We have a long, long way to go.

– Manning made some poor decisions.

– OL should have dominated the SJSU DL. That didn't happen.

– Must hold on to the ball.

– Penalties need to get cleaned up.

– Defense is a concern. San Jose moved the ball with ease at times.

– Pass rush wasn't a factor, though SJSU threw the ball quickly most of the time.

– If not for the turnover scores we got, this game would have been much closer.

– This was a game where we were supposed to polish our game. We struggled way too much.

Hopefully, they get this stuff cleaned up. We would not have beaten OU today. This is a win that feels a lot like a loss.

Agree with everything you said. I know this was not OSU talent, but the O looked a little better than last week. Hopefully they get better next week, then better against Sam Houston going into the bye week. I think of this game, the next two and the bye week as another fall camp.

Livingstone might be a pleasant surprise this year and lead the team in yards and recs. Wingo needs to step it up. Too many drops and he's too talented to not get separation on all DBs, especially from SJS. May need to start incorporating Locket into the WR rotation. Kid looks legit and smooth.

The defense played very, very soft today. Definitely not the same passion or juice from last week. Was it the opponent? Did they have a game plan to play back and keep things in front making them have to go the length of the field against their talent? Who knows, but lots to clean up on both sides of the ball.

Last thing, is Niblett the best we have for punt return? No returns of note and he still has some problems fielding all punts. Surely they have someone else.

The OL and Dl stunk it up today.
Plus way too many penalties.

It's baffling that Arch looked so much better last year compared to this year. Is the pressure really getting to him?

I’m sure it was discussed on here somewhere already but there was a play that Arch missed Wingo over the middle and on the replay arch looks to be wincing in pain. I know X is talking shit on fans saying they believe he has an injury but his expression on that play sure seemed it. He will never admit it though, can’t or defenses will exploit it.
