Basketball News/Recruiting Thread

There is nowhere to put this, but it basketball related. This weekend I have witnessed the stupidest decision in pro sports...ever. It eclipses the Herschell Walker trade and the Ricky Williams draft trade. How in the world do you trade one of the best players in the world for a 31 year old who can't stay healthy for more than a couple of months? Utter Stupidity. Look at the roster, it is no longer diverse in any way, shape or form.

I tend to agree, but Doncic is an injury plagued player too and apparently it has become more difficult for Doncic to overcome his injuries, most notably the knee.

"Luka Doncic’s injury record has been a point of discussion within his team for years. As of now, he has played for around 422 games with his team. During the course of 7 seasons in the NBA, Luka has been sidelined for around 91 times. He’s had a number of injuries but the most common were his knee problems and ankle issues.

It’s not just the number of injuries, but also how he’s been playing through them. Reports say he’s been getting pain injections, playing with all sorts of wraps and was often seen limping or dealing with ice packs on the bench. It’s become clear that staying healthy has been a challenge for him, and that’s something the Mavericks couldn’t ignore.

The 25-year-old was eligible to sign a five-year, $345 million contract extension this summer. That much money given his injury concerns might have made his team a little hesitant to commit to him further."

Texas loses by five to #2 Auburn
Texas loses by four to #1 Tennessee
Texas beats unranked Oklahoma
Texas loses badly to #5 Florida
Texas beats #22 Mizzou
Texas beats #13 A&M
Texas loses by 3 to #23 Ole Miss
Texas mudholes LSU by 31
And Texas only gets one vote in the AP pole?
This has to be bulletin board material.

I don't keep up with NBA. I don't know anything about Luka Doncic. After reading all the sports articles, I'm curious that in the distant future, will Dallas look similar to Boston trading Babe Ruth. Just a thought. Like I mentioned earlier, I don't know anything about Luka Doncic or NBA.

I noticed that also. aggy is now #10 so that is a quality win. As long as we make the NCAA tournament, I don't care too much where they rank us.

Luka is not in Babe Ruth's zip code. IMO, he's a spoiled brat and throws too many tantrums for my taste. He does put up points though. It's a trade Lakers fans like, but it is a risk for that organization.

I think the Mavs are saying his best days are behind him and they were about to have to pay him a huge contract. Everybody's seemingly upset about all this except the Mavs.

Big game vs fellow bubble team Arkansas. Need a good win to keep momentum going. Joe Lunardi and ESPN currently has us as a 9 seed. Jerry Palm and cbs currently has us as a 10. I wouldn’t worry about top 25. Need to worry about making the tourney.

We typically play like shit the first half only to battle back in the second. Need to change that quick.

So happy it was a packed house. Good for the girls. On to Kentucky and home for LSU. I hope Texas beats down the Tigers. Can not stand their coach.
Big win. If we split Kentucky and LSU and then the last 3 games against unranked teams, we should be in the tourney as a 1 seed.

Win out, we would tie South Carolina for the SEC and I think the tie break would go down to a coin flip for the 1 seed for the tourney.

Agreed. Dawn S is a big cry baby..."The refs won't let us play our game and we won't change the way we play."
Then plan on losing! Baseball pitchers have to adapt to an ump's strike zone. Dang it...cannot think of another example...but there is one, or two.

The Horns play Bama tonight in Austin. A win would be huge for the team. Watch Nate Oats, the coach for Bama, and ask yourself if he would be a good fit at Texas. When Beard was fired, I wanted Texas to go after him or Scott Drew but CDC didn't ask me for my opinion.
