Arch Manning

"Synonymous with failure" for a kid with 7 games, and he's 5-2 as a starter.

What a headline. The media machine is insaneView attachment 8532
Preseason Heisman trophy favorite was a created phenomena that had nothing to do with Arch. It wasn't based on his play.... it had more to do with his last name and the Texas brand.

If you take that into consideration, I'd say that a 5-star, playing like he has so far in his redshirt sophomore season is slightly dissapointing. I'd say our offensive line is much more dissapointing than Arch.

Arch is already looking better. I think his timing needs to continue to improve, move through progressions faster, and be more accurate with more touch on short area throughs. But the glimpses of the talent are all there. Consistency should come with more experience.

Dude can scoot with speed and power!

Finally, a reasonable observation. I'm older so I remember how the media painted Bill Bradley as Super Bill. The expectations of his performance and starting as a QB were unrealistic. Later he and the coaches found his calling as a DB. Before someone jumps on here and imply I'm suggesting moving Arch, I'M NOT. Im agreeing with above observation: Let the kid play for a little bit.

Bills hands were just too small to be QB

If Bradley had not switched positions James Street would not have played and Texas wouldn't have won two NC's. It was a fantastic move. I had just cut my teeth on Longhorn football a couple or three years earlier by listening on the radio and hearing Chris Gilbert shred some defenses.

That was the diagnosis after two years and 1 1/2 games at starting QB for Texas. In high school he was one of the most sought after QBs in the country. His performance at then annual all-star game against Pennsylvania All-stars was so grand the media labeled him Super Bill. His hands weren't too small then. He wasn't an option (wishbone) QB.

Chris Gilbert was special to watch (especially live). I, too, enjoyed listening to Humble Oil and Kern Tips. When Chris Gilbert scored a touchdown, it wasn't six points, it was Gilbert dancing into Royal soil.

Football analysts back then said they were too small

And got rid of the ball quickly.
Caldwell lost the stating job at Troy. When that sinks in you’ll wish KJ Lacey got 3 weeks of work during cupcake season. Caldwell will never win you a meaningful game at Texas

I still can’t forget how amazing QE3 looked against Bama before getting hurt and also against OU. He looked every bit the part of his recruiting ranking those early games. Not sure if he got hurt again after OU then started sucking again but I agree that hurt redshirt freshman QE3 looks like healthy redshirt sophomore Arch in some ways.
Hard to push off with a bum ankle all season. He was hurt but played through it and was the reason we beat Clemson and Arizona St. his ability to read defenses and get the O in a better play was good
