2026 Recruiting Board/Thread

Last year their recruiting class finished 17th overall, 10th in the SEC.

This year they are currently ranked 34th (10th in the SEC) and have more 3 stars (8) than 4 stars (7). They are 19th overall when ranking by avg recruit ranking.

They have a small class currently with only 15 commits. They have 1 player ranked nationally by 24/7 (top 247 players), a QB at number 74 overall.

They better close strong with their last 10 or so commits, but looking at their offers out, there doesn't seem to be too many lines in the water for top recruits.
their plan is to coach them up.

Maybe he meant a flip from OU lean to Texas

Speaking of OU, why do I get the feeling they're about to be exactly like Nebraska now and it will be a long, long time until they come back? The factors include BV, broke ass school and lack of deep NIL funds, the competitive SEC, and did I mention broke ass school? The worst thing they ever did was moving to the SEC. That is proving to be a killer for them. At least staying in the B12 they would have a shot at the playoffs.

I agree they will be mostly irrelevant moving forward, but I'm not convinced moving to the SEC was a mistake. If they were in the BIG12 they would be even broker, and wouldn't have the SEC exposure to sell yo the recruits. On the other hand as you say their path to the playoffs would be somewhat easier. I see the SEC and the BIG12 as each having advantages and disadvantages for them, so not a huge mistake.

I think we are headed towards an era where money matters more then it used to, and that's a bad deal for schools that can't compete in the financial arms race.

Their highest ranked player in their class is at #168. Its getting bad.

This is why this season is critical to the Sooners. That new QB and OC have to pull off some miracles. If it's another ho hum year, then they will finish the transition to Nebraska.

And yes, I guess Kreul was a lean, not a verbal.

We are getting pick in for cooper

My guess is the staff feels good TE’s are easy to come by through the portal. That and they must feel good about the guys they recruited last year

No TE this cycle ?

I think we're good at TE. The kid from Cali wants to come here but he's a project. I'm not sure Sark wants another project. They're probably still calling Bowman.

But we're good at TE if we don't find the right guy this cycle.
