This may be the year FB Ridge Point makes a run. They always win that Fort Bend district and then lose to a power house like North Shore, Katy, or Lamar. But this team looks extra talented. No one has been able to hang with them. They won't play a close game until the playoffs.

In Fall of 1982, I went to a Newman Smith game with my room mate, who graduated there. His parents took us to dinner at Sneaky Pete's on Lake Lewisiville, which at the time featured some awesome Italian food..

Newman Smith lost. The crowd across the way had multiple, multiple signs that said "Pop The Trojans!"

I know that Smith made the playoffs during your timeframe. Smith had a K that regularly booted 60 yarders. He ultimately kicked for Missouri. In the playoffs Smith was matched with L.D. Bell who was still a perennial power house at the time. The Trojans destroyed them 44-3 or so.
