So, Texas won the exhibition game with tech 9-3 on Saturday. I put some notes out a little later.
Schloss is suppose to have a press conference on Tuesday. There will be another fall game on Friday with Lamar.
Don't believe the game with Lamar will have any radio, and not certain that it will be on tv.
So, some updates. Robbins showed that he is as advertised going something like 2 or 3 for 5 with 2 RBIs. Tinney was good as well 2 for 5.
The outfielders seems like they were ready for the start of the season. Will be interesting to see how Pack Jr., the highest rated player in the '25 class fits with him and J. Williams both being CFs. But with J. Williams having hamstring issues; the CF might be Pack Jr. to lose. Then again there might be a time where Williams, Pack Jr., and Robbins are the starters as outfielders.
Williams didn't play because of his football schedule.
A. Rod played at SS. Teco B., the transfer from Stadford played 3rd base. Borba played at 1st.
These 3 with Livingston will battle it out for these 3 spots and outside of Teco B., one of them will be the DH.
Pitching. Even with Volantis out most if not the full fall/winter workouts, are awesome for the most part. Of the 3 runs given up that came from Luke Harrison (2 runs), and Ethan Walker (1 run).
Leffew started, he was good, but not great 2 Ks, but also walked the based loaded. He really needs to keep working on being solid with the changeup.
Burns, Riojas, and Grubbs seem and looked like they haven't missed a beat coming out of the bullpen.
Higgins, a transfer, has a really awesome sweeper pitch to go with a sinker, cutter and changeup.
As for the freshmen, McKernan, FB only hitting 93/94, but but he can use the changeup, sinker, and sweeper he is got as high a ceiling as any of the freshmen pitchers. Crossland, he might be the most imposing pitcher at 6'5". His FB hits 96 constantly, but he also has a cutter and changeup.
Then there is Brody Walls, he threw multiple 95/96 FB, but he also has a cutter, slider, and changeup to be on the lookout for as well.
Sam Cozart, a massive win by the staff to get him to Austin, but his solid FB, changeup, cutter, and sweeper; those were overshadowed by what most had called a Max Beyleu 2.0, in Monsour making a awesome diving catch in RF duringg the 10th inning.
Then there is Grady Westphal he has a FB that is innthe lows 90s, but whst is impressive is his changeup, cutter, slider, sinker to go with his FB.
Michal Winter was to work the 12th inning, a comebacker that lead to an infield single, did work with several pitches, but left a few pitches after tue comebacker. That lead to Ethan Walker giving up the last run.
There shouldn't be any issue with Micheal Winter, but as we should learn wait until the HC talks.
