Hey,

So, we are like. Weeks away from the start of the baseball season. We had the 2nd rated class in 2025. We currently have the top rated class in 2026.

For those wondering about the roster it is finally up at Texassports.com or if you are on On3 OTF, I believe Blake has it posted there. I've heard a lot of good stuff regarding Schloss and his staff.

I think that both Blake and myself are in partial agreement that the top 2 pitchers are Spencer and Harrison as far as starters. Now which is the Friday and Saturday starters remains to be seen.

Don't count on Whitehead until late in the yr as he is recovering from off season surgery with no timetable for a return. Jonah Williams is also recovering from the clavicle injury from HS football with no timetable as well.

We are in the 16th -20th baseball ranking for preseason. We are behind at least 7 other SEC teams in the preseason rankings, but lets see how the season plays out. I would count on the offense to carry this team at 1st while the pitching and defense works itself out.

I think your last paragraph is the key to this team. The team feels a year away from fully competing. With a tough sec schedule I would be happy with a 2 seed in a regional. But I do think Schloss will turn it around fast!

We had some good returning pieces and Schloss did well in the portal and recruiting but yes, we are probably still building.

Hi,

We will start the season at Arlington with games against Louisville, Ole Miss (non conference), and okie lite. The alumi game is just around the corner on Feb. 1st.

Also, pleas note that Belyeu and J. Flores are preseason all conference and possible all American baseball players.

Our best pitcher might be Riojas, won't be a starter nor closer to start the season. But that can changeas the season plays out. Just need to see how Weiner, the new pitching coach, chooses to use the pitchers. He seems to have a better understanding of how pitchers need to be used and their strengths and weaknesses are. Do think he knows how to use the pitchinng staff better than Pierce until he shows he doesn't.

I know Ace is coming back from surgery, but what about Grubbs? Haven’t heard much about him, he was solid last year.

Just glancing at the hitters on this roster there is some experience and power and a lot of youth.
Just some that stuck out for me and this based on stats
Jalin Flores
Ethan Mendoza
Rylan Galvan
Will Gasparino
Easton Winfield
Kimble Schuessler
Casey Borba
Max Belyeu

So,
I take some of the reports from the pre-season workouts for baseball the same way as I do for football. When pitchers only have to pitch 1-2 innings until this past Wednesday/Thursday when Schloss and staff started extending the pitchers that they consider starters/possible starters mid or long relief pitchers to 4 -5 innings and later this week to 6 innings then let's see who shows the best stuff with the most consistently stuff. So, expect to hear stuff on Grubbs and Burns, the ASU transfer. Plus, I get the feeling that Schloss will use the mid week games to determine the best pitchers for the Sunday starter and the mid to long relievers while looking to win as many games whether mid week or weekend games.

As for the line-up and fielders. Most likely the outfield is something of Winfield (LF), Gasparion (CF), Beyleu(RF), Flores (SS), Mendoza(2nd). Guessing Galvan, (starting C) possible DH; Schuessler ( 1st, C, possible, DH); Stewart ( possible 1st), Borba( 3rd?, possible DH). Haven't seen enough to give a solid line up, but it should be close to the line-up from a couple of yrs ago with solid pop in the bats up and down the line-up. But should get a better feel from the alumi game and the 1st 3 games of the season in about 2+ weeks. Hate not having LHN channel, but do have the radio streaming on Texassports.com. Not certain if Joey will have his twitter or x or whatever that crap is called now available.

Apparently freshmen adrian rodriguez is a stud and will push for starting at 3rd

Will Jonah Williams make any kind of impact as a freshman? Pitching or hitting?

Probably at some point, but he is currently in rehab for the clavicle injury from hs football. Both staffs have said there is no timetable on him. If to guess probably late April to early May.

I assume as a Freshman he would be more of a pinch runner if anything.

Has anyone heard from Joeywa? I've been thinking about him lately, wondering how he's doinig.

I don't understand why everyone has aggy #1. They lost their Hall of Fame coach.
I don't follow aggy sports but I'm going to assume that the majority of the team came back thus the high ranking. Like it or not, they had a good team last year and was 1 win away from a natty.

As far as Schlossnagle, my aggy buddies hate him because they think he screwed them and some think he lost the NC on purpose just to screw with them (aggy jokes write themselves). Where in reality, the aggy AD is the one who screwed things up by firing one of his assistants without telling him.
