Rick Barnes was very complimentary of the way Texas played last night. It was tough, hard fought basketball game for sure. Texas could have folded up but didn’t and had some chances to tie late. Great effort, Tennessee is a good team.
@Eastexhorn, first it was Tom Herman and now you want us to bring Shaka Smart back.
Don't forget one of those lost to Abilene Christian in the 1st round as a heavy favorite. Besides, Marquette is more of a basketball power than Texas.
Barnes, who is a great guy, grew stagnate at Texas. Both he and Texas needed a change. I wish him all the luck in the world, except when they play us.
This year's team was simply not as good as last year's team. Not sure they would have done any better with most any other coach.

Sharka is a lotbetter coach than Terry ever will be.. He wasa poor fit at Texas for some reason. And wouldbe again if rehired, then no one except you sugested rehireing either one of them
Sark had a good year and I expect him to equal it next season. gameswill be tougher .
The way basketball is played these days, everyone needs to be able to shoot / score. At times (this season) Texas has three players on the court that aren't a threat to score even if left wide-open. Abmas forgetting how to shoot and whatever in the world Hunter was doing left us no chance for success in the tourney.
As SHA has said, next season is critical for Terry's run at Texas. One thing he and staff seem to be able to do is recruit. Well.... he'd better go shopping right now for a distributing point guard and a couple of bigs. And, as stated earlier, the days of having specialists who cannot throw a ball into the ocean - those days are over.

Hunter and Weaver were the only Horns to shoot .500 or better during the tournament so Hunter didn't hurt us with his shooting. Hunter and Abmas hurt us with their TOs however if the other team is trapping your guards, the other 3 guys (or at least 2 of them) should come help. There were a couple of times they didn't.
Disu going cold during the tournament hurt us bad, of course without him I'm not sure we would have even made it. Just a bad time for our stud to go cold.
Abmas and Hunter had 10 turnovers and 4 assists.
They both closed strong, but had a wretched first half.
Disu was off on his shooting too.
The overall team talent was not as strong this year.
Terry has to put better talent on the floor next year. I think he will win with better talent. We shall see

He's got the 10th ranked class with a 5 star and two 4 star recruits coming in. I think he's getting top talent. He does need to add a couple of players in the portal.

It is going to take a very savvy coach to build a team for the long haul. Beard was that coach until his unfortunate incident. I don't know if Terry is.
