Weekend Series – #7 Texas vs Mizzou

Bottom of the 6th. Spencer loses the shutout. Missouri has score 2 runs. Burns is coming in for Texas.
Burns gives up a 2 RBI single. It's now 15-4. If Missouri gets 1 more run or more the run rule is out.

Thru 6 complete Texas leads 15-4. All 4 runs for Missouri belong to Spencer.
Run rule is okay as long as no more runs for Missouri unless we score more runs.

Spencer had a solod outing, especially considering he had to wait 2 times for 30+ minutes of half innings of Texas batting. Texas only used 2 pitchers. Burns might still be available for a short outing since he only threw 15 or so pitches.

Man, sounds like we feasted on their pitching. How many home runs did we have?

I predict we score a lot of runs this weekend. Mizzou opponents scoring 8+ runs a game so far this year and that is a schedule that includes typical easy tuesday games and 2 4 game weekend series against the likes of Binghamton and Evansville.

I would not be surprised to see us score 30+ runs this weekend.
I am feeling good about my 30 run prediction after tonight, even with them cutting the game 2 innings short we are halfway there.

Thomas Burns is a guy that it seemed like the staff had slotted pretty high in their reliever heirarchy to begin the season, possible closer type role, but he hasn't been great at coming in and putting out fires. Spencer gets tagged with the 2 runs scored while Burns was pitching but as a starter, you really would like to be able to depend on a reliever coming in and getting the out.

Box score has him at 26 pitches. Could maybe come in tomorrow but the good thing is we only used two arms today. Missouri threw 6 pitchers today and 180 pitches.

Burns hasnt ever been considered the closer type. He is in the same role as Grubbs, Duplantier, and possibly Saunier. Would like to see Saunier get the game 2 start., but that doesn't seem to be Schloss and Weiner plan. I have no problem with their plan as we are off to one of our best starts in 20 yrs or so.

Riojas, Moffett, Navarre are the ones that were more likely to be closer type. Hamiltom is another one. Volantis is the closest we have.
The issue has been Mercer and McCreery haven't been able to throw strikes, thus they haven't pitched in awhile. Howard is slowly showing some promise.

Will go by what Craig/Roger and Keith say on the pitch count.

Missouri may have used 6 pitchers, but 1 was a position player and was very effective. Saving most of their other arms for Saturday.

It's gonna be close but I think he can get it tonight.
Yeah, but starters have to go 5 full innings to get the win, and not just be winning when pulled. Thus if Missouri had, which BTW, had scored 31 runs against us a few yrs ago at that stadium, whould have cost him the win. Don't believe me just listen to Keith from last night's game.

I was kind of hoping Mizzou would get 2 more runs, because the Horns would've gotten 20 / 30 tonight.

I watched most the game. Most of them were not just HRs but bombs! One time the Mizzou LF just turned to watch it go out, I believe it was Flores who hit it.

Top of 2nd,
Galvan hits leadoff double. Then 2 outs. Stewart hits a RBI double followed by a RBI single from Farmer.
Texas leads 2-0.

BTW, A-Rod and Beyleu are missing at least this game if not both games today due to injury.

Bottom of the 2nd:
Missouri gets a 1 out double that scores on an error by Schuessler. Galvan gets hurt off a bunt attempt and is now out. Groundout to 3rd. Borba gets the lead runner, but throws it away on the throw to 1st. Missouri now gets a 3 run homerun to take the lead 4-2. Texas with 2 errors in the inning.

Thru 2 complete Missouri leads 4-2.

Top of the 3rd,
Mendoza gets a hit and moves up to 2nd via an error on outfielder. Schuessler moved Mendoza up to 3rd on groundout. Flores hits a 2 run homerun to tie at 4 and now Gasparino hits another monster homerun to regain the lead 5-4.
