*****GAME THREAD: #7 TEXAS LONGHORNS vs. TCU HORNED FROGS*****

This team is losing a ton of talent next year and doesn’t seem like the coaches are maximizing the potential they have in front of them. That’s what’s frustrating.
BTW, you realize we are 9-1 with the only loss going down to the last play and are also alone atop the B12, right? Oh, and the best record since 2009 I think. Could we be better? Sure, but I think all of us would have gladly taken this result at this point last August. Sark knows what he's building and isn't finished.

I've wondered the same thing. I wouldn't be surprised to see a secondary coach replaced after the season. Sark likes coaching continuity as he should, but upgrading one or maybe two each year isn't a bad idea.
Wasn't there talk of replacing Joseph after Sark's first year ?

I havent even started on the offense yet , Sark is getting predictable and if I can do it without a stat sheet then something is wrong, I think he called a poor game, I think QE inability to consistently and accurately go deep showed in his play selection, the sequence that really chaffed my butt is we go 1st down-run 2nd down run, 3rd and short and he throws ?
I think Sark is giving the fan base coach BS speak, QE didnt have the zip on the ball and I think its because certain throws are painful, he missed high tonight
Agree, I don't think QE was 100%, but he played a heck of a lot better than MM at 100%. QE went to the locker room before the end of the half with his throwing arm hanging straight down. I suspect he was sore or even in pain so Sark called a conservative second half with a lot of runs and minimal passing. It worked, but was painful to watch. I suspect we'd have lost with MM playing.

My worry about the 2nd half collapse trend we're seeing recently is if we're in the running for a playoff spot.

If Bama wins out, and neither Washington or FSU drop a game, we get left out even with a B12 title win.

In the end, if we're walking out the door with the B12 crown, I won't complain.

when we were up 20 I fully expected to see Arch come in, Im a MM fan but he had his shot and underperformed, I could honestly see Arch as QB2A and MM as QB2B

Supposedly on crutches after the game but not in a boot. Some speculating possible knee.
Hate to hear that. Dude's been playing great. We haven't had a season-ending injury that I know of so far.

Honest question for you guys, is the secondary being developed? It's obvious Bo Davis is doing his job with the DL and Choate is getting a lot of the LBs. Does Texas need to make a change at the DB and S coaches? Seems like these guys should be further along by now. I know Williams, Brooks, Gilbeau and Muhammad are young guys. Or is it PK holding the DBs back by playing in very soft coverage?
where PK defense is when we show zone and then convert to man, there was one reception tonight where the TCU defender caught the ball between three defenders and not one made a play on the ball. PK is stubborn OU exposed him, Dana and Houston exploited him, and the only reason TCU didnt beat us is that they just didnt have enough talent...PK refuses to make adjustments. I watched Michigan this morning as did most of you but did you notice how tight to the line of scrimmage their DB's played, I cant blame the position coaches, PK wants the DBs to give that cushion, Jaylin Ford got beat tonight on consecutive plays, he dropped and nobody picked up his man afterwards, sorry for the rant, I/we should be ecstatic that we are 9-1

Never said he isn’t building something great. But with the talent that’s at his disposal Texas should be lighting teams up. Simple as that. 9-1 is excellent. Should not be close games to 4-5 teams. Can’t argue that.

Another win season like TCU's last year winning the close ones minus ou.

Two series caught my eye run on first and secon down Gained 8-7 yards third down the ole pass to WR behind line of scrimage a loss both times. Play calling like this leads to a 3 point half.

The offence is like the defence. when needed not around.
TCU had 2 players aRB and WR that could play for Texas ( well maybe some OL that faulse starts) so how could they play Texas so close

TCU has a TE that actually played for Texas and played well. They have several players that could play for Texas, several. They played for a NC last year!

It's great to see solid progress in just Sark's third year. In either of the last two years we'd have lost some of these close games for sure. It takes 4-5 years for recruiting to really pay off, especially in the trenches. We're not necessarily playoff quality, but we're close.
All the really good ones wil be drafted

Last year TCU won a lot of close games and ended up in the NCG. This season, all of their losses have been close except one. They're a good, well-coached, team. I suspect a big part of the difference is QB Max Duggan being gone. Dude was a helluva gamer.

any defense that cant hold a 20 point lead is embarrassing, how many sacks did they get how many yards did they give up...You expect Sark and the offense to put up 40 every game, with the new clock rules we won't get that many touches, when we were up by ten did they make a stop NOPE, they let TCU march down the field and make it a one score game, we are a poor coverage team and a mediocre tackling team. We are not a CFP caliber defense....watch the ranking on Tues, Alabama will jump us
Yep

20 isn’t a big enough lead to “see how he does”. Sorry!

And a lot of really good ones are being recruited and developed. Such is the nature of college sports which is what makes it fun to follow and watch. Never a dull moment.
Yep, unproven.
