2023 Portal Recruiting (CLOSED)

Even with a DB entering the portal, the biggest need is a WR. There is three WRS in the top 10 players n portal. Doubt if Horns has a chance on any of them.

Two WRS in top10 players who played H S football in Texas. Better chance on them.

Any way 2023 recruiting is about wraped up. 2024 coming up so time to change notes on recruiting.

I don't see the urgency at WR. IMO, the room is well stocked.

From what I've read, there are certain names out there that, if they enter the portal, the Horns will be very aggressive in pursuit. If not, we may not add another player at all.

Sark is being selective, which speaks well to our roster.

Texas just landed the best available WR in getting JWhitt to return. I'm still convinced Evan Stewart hits the portal either before the 1-18 deadline or after spring.
I used to think the same, but I have changed my view.  He is the top dog receiver at a&m and if he comes here he has several names to contend with.  If you have an ego, you want to impress and I don't think he could get the same stats here vs a&m.  Yes, we would pass, but he would need to be the top target here to get the same stats, which with Sanders, Cook, Worthy, Whit and even Neylor (sp) seems unlikely.  If you are top dog, you get more NIL opportunities.  Second, I also wonder if he wants to man up that it was a mistake to say no to us.  Third, if he really wants to leave for a good team, are we sure it would be us vs Georgia or Alabama or USC?  Lastly, if he choose his current shit show based on NIL, is his prior year NIL going down or could we offer more?  If anything, one would expect them to pay up for the promise they saw last year.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to create the DB nightmare trying to cover all of our studs, but am starting to think if he wanted to make such a big decision to leave, it would have happened because it would have been festering during the season to boil over during the first portal.  The only motivation the spring brings is getting the early enrollees involved and seeing what little is there but that is less likely than the spring bringing optimism and kool-aid.

Hope I am wrong as he is quite talented.
