*****Game Thread: #22 Texas Longhorns vs. Iowa State Cyclones*****

You may have missed the last 10 years of Texas football then ?.

I vividly remember secondaries in the past 10-12 years giving up killer big plays leading to frustrating losses.  Hopefully we're heading in the right direction.
Yes I’ve seen those but man these guys just let them catch it and try to make the tackle. Those safeties now someone is coming middle because it’s worked all year. Try to jump the route every once in awhile. We’re going to see better passers moving forward so we have to be better

in years past we lose that game.....dont know that I could award a game ball to anyone, because they should have thumped this team by two touchdown especially when you open the game with a blocked punt and come away with nothing...lots of missed assignments on defense, dropped passes and face it even though he had two TD's QE did not have a particularly good game...but its a win

Watching the game as a former DB coach, I wondered if the game plan was to play soft and keep the ISU receivers in front. Force them to sustain drives. If so, I'd recommend scrapping it all together. Terrible game plan, execution, or both.

Firing PK and\or Gideon’s and Joseph isn’t the solution. This team is 5~2, and playing better than it has in years. Is there still work to do ? Yes, and lots of coaching will come out of this game. This team just won a game that in previous years it would have lost. Keep your name calling down to a minimum, I have read most of your post in here.
7 games into the second season and the same head banging on the same wall….  When does he figure it out.

He is much like Todd Orlando to me

What's the deal with a limit to the number of reactions allowed on the site? Too many good posts for me to limit my responses. Geez, I need to get a life.?

Sark is so scared of allowing the explosive play they allow the short and intermediate stuff.  Either we don’t have the players we need or the scheme is wrong.  I have noticed that we get dinked and dunked too easily and the slant is money against us.  Only 5 plays for more than 30 yards all season.  So yes they are more concerned about stopping the long stuff so we suffer on the short and intermediate stuff.

Bijan MVP no doubt.

I will say defense has improved leaps and bounds this year. PK’s defense at Washington did the same. Texas still doesn’t have a dominant rusher, no Sergio Kindle or Brian Orakpo coming off of the edge. It forces you to call defensive coverages differently. I saw the coverage change even more when 6 went out of the game. They lined up 4 on we and he blew right past him for a 54 yard TD. Coverage went a lot softer after that. Admittedly 11 went for the play fake and left him on a island. Man almost like I watched the game with some knowledge of what happens and why…

Just checking with everyone on the talking points next week.

Are we still going with that we'd be 7-0 with Quinn thing?

I want to see our secondary get all over them like Patterson used too at TCU. You’ll get some PI penalties but it frustrates the receivers. I guess our coaches don’t think we have the personnel to play that right now. We have to figure something out because everyone else we play pass better than we saw today.
