Never underestimate the power of the $$$$Not holding my breath on this one after checking out his list.
Maybe he has lived there his whole life and is ready for a change. If he can play and the coaches want him, bring him on.If he is not appy in Hawaii who can make happy. Pass.
In his defense, I’ve never heard of anyone who has enjoyed playing for Todd Graham. They have a ton of players leaving because of him.If he is not appy in Hawaii who can make happy. Pass.
Keep in mind a ton of those will enroll at new schools at the start of the new semester. Plenty of time for those 636 to decide. For those keeping score at home...
911 FBS scholorship athletes entered the portal since 8/1
32 withdrew
243 went to new schools
636 are still in the portal!
To me that reads that 636 entered with a 4 year scholarship and rolled the dice and come out with nothing. I am sure their schools were glad to get the scholarship back. These kids need to determine if the reason they are not getting playing time is that they just are not that good. If that is the case, they had best take advantage of that scholly and get the best education they can.
Hawaii high schools are a breading ground for college linebackers.Maybe he has lived there his whole life and is ready for a change. If he can play and the coaches want him, bring him on.
I always knew scholarships were on an annual renewing basis, but rarely (in the past) heard of one not being renewed. Is this practice increasing with the advent of the portal?Keep in mind a ton of those will enroll at new schools at the start of the new semester. Plenty of time for those 636 to decide.
Also, one other very important note. A ton of those guys were told transfer because their scholarships wouldn’t be renewed at their school. They do not sign 4 year scholarships. They sign 1 year scholarships that the coaches can take away at the end of the year if wanted. I highly expect guys at Texas like Woodard, Caldwell, Ghirmai, etc. would have stayed but Sark told them “thanks but no thanks. Good luck at your next school.”
When a school like Texas St. does that to a kid, they most likely have to go to FCS to find a home. It isn’t fair to say 636 kids made a bad choice when probably half of them were told to leave with no choice made.
