Game Thread: Texas Longhorns @ #16 Baylor Bears

This is not on Casey. He had a decent day. Looks like Sark called the punt fake. Interview not out yet.
Totally agree with you on Casey.  I still don't think he is right guy for this team though.  I commend him for his ability to stick it out and compete.  I don't know if Hudson is the guy either, but they need someone at that position that is a leader.  Maybe that is Card.  After 3 losses, I think it's time to turn the reigns over.

I don't think Casey had that bad of a day. Yes he did have a couple of bad throws, but he is the best option at this time.
yep... but that "best option" made bad decisions and too many poor throws but he didnt lose the game

I'd agree Casey played decent. We needed excellent today to bail us out. That's not really on him. We are however due for some sort of change, and to start figuring out what next year looks like. This season is toast. Already was before today.

I get it, we're all upset, numb or whatever by the lack of production by this team this year. I guess I'm just more patient thatn most.  I'm having a hard time finding first year head coaches (not named Day or Riley) that didn't have a mediocre 1st year, but got it going in year 2.  Look at Mel Tucker and Aranda.  Both won 2 games each last year and have turned it around in year 2.  I would bet the % of successful 1st year head coaches is very, very low. If this team is still where they are at this time next year, then we can have serious conversations about this not working.  Thank goodness i started to learn golf this last year.
I'm not seeing the right things out of our coach. Game Day decisions.

They gave Casey the opportunity and it didn't work out.  No shame in that.  Time to look to 2022.

Keilan didn’t play much again today.  Slipped down that one time.  Seems like they could find some opportunities for him ?‍♂️

Texas hasn't had a 4 game losing streak since 2010. I'm not sure Sark is even going to be getting OC offers, let alone HC offers after this. He is rapidly becoming damaged goods.

And that is your right.  I saw a lot of open WRs today that weren't thrown to.  Game changing plays.  The 4th and 11 punt fake, i get it.  However, even if my player made that decision on his own I would still take the blame as the coach so who knows what really happened.  I've seen multiple route combinations that have gotten the WRs into favorable matchups and even wide open.  They either dropped the ball or the QB didnt see them through his progressions.  So, from my POV, I see a coach trying to instill belief in his players.  Of course, I've never been a HC at the college level so what do I know.

In spite of Casey playing decent, changes and sacrifices are going to need to be made. We need to know.

I just can’t believe a coach would call a fake punt there.  I would bet Sark is taking the heat from Dicker.

I guess I'm not as ticked about this as most are.

1. Its hard to go through your progressions very often when you're trying not to be sacked. You would be surprised what some sort of protection would produce.

2. The 4th and 11 fake was inexplicable, IMO.

3. Bijan stayed bottled up for the most part. Baylor keyed on him all day, daring us to beat them anywhere else. I was pleased with the way our passing game held up and eventually Bijan got a few yards.

4. I don't know what was up, but they gashed up right up the middle early in the game. Glad we got that stopped. Defense looked okay in the 2nd half today.

5. We aren't rotating enough players defensively, IMO. Maybe that's our depth IDK.

6. I saw some improvement today on both sides. It wasn't good enough to win, but progress no less.

7. Once again, we talk about getting K-Rob more touches, and then don't.

8. Keondre is not an every down DL. He just doesn't have that type of endurance. He played well, but not so well at times. Saw him take himself out of the middle on one play and, you guessed it, we were gashed up the middle on that play.

9. Our defensive ends are average, at best. We cannot rush the passer from either end. Thats got to change next year.

10. I think most of us expected a loss today. Their strength (run) was our weakness. We held up relatively well and didn't disappear in the second half. We were beat by a touchdown.

Perhaps we should think about where we've been and how it got like this. IMO, Sark is doing what he can to make magic without magic dust. Is he perfect? Of course not. But if given time (I know, a rational idea) I think he turns this thing around.

Casey's after game interview won't make any friends in the locker room.

To summarize: we need to make catches, we need the D to get more 3 and outs, we need to run the ball better. We tell them we'll get it next time, but we can't keep saying that. I though I played a pretty good game, but if I have to be perfect then I need to get better.

Not the kind of things you want to hear from the team leader. Everybody's fault but his.

Well, he isn't lying, but that's for the coach to say.  That right there is enough to look to 2022 and Card.  4 games remaining, hope to make it through without having to go to Charles Wright.  Casey transfers, but you still have 3 QBs for next year, maybe 4 with another recruit or a transfer.
