Its time to fire Strong

Feldman is reporting the same thing he reported back in Oct - that a source 'close to Strong' says that Strong 'would have interest' in the Miami job.  Feldman concedes that their is no chance Miami can pay Strong 5 million a year or that they'd even want him after a 4-8 season at Texas.

I call bullshit today - just as I did back in Oct.

There is zero chance Strong is walking away from this job and 10 million dollars.
Yup

I said this earlier that Mack losing to Iowa St was the beginning of the end for him and it may have been for Strong too. There's a lot of noise about Strong leaving. Maybe in his mind $10M isn't worth the pressure he is going through? I have turned down promotions and more money because I didn't want to be away from family. Everyone has their reasons, he may too.

Bruce Feldman now reporting that Strong is indeed interested in Miami. I think there is now real smoke. You take what is being said on IT and now this something is brewing.
Are you referring to this article?

If so it shows Strong has a distaste for losing in blowouts.  Not shocking news.  I still think he can fix this but it shows the importance of bringing in HIS recruits and forming the right mentality for those young kids.  As the upperclassmen graduate he gets closer.

Apparently he said it on  a radio show today he was being interviewed on

I don't know if Charlie really is interested in the Miami job or not.

But I do know this. Whether it's Feldman or some other member of the media, their priority is to create a good story whether it's true or not. Most of the media, but not all, simply don't worry about the truth of something they put out there. They just want to generate "interest" in their product, brand, or service. This is most likely what is happening with Feldman.

Might be a little biased considering Feldman is a Miami Hurricanes alum

That was an editorial piece - he wasn't reporting anything other than his opinion that a mutual parting might be the best for both sides, not that they were discussing it or considering it.

If this thing is about to blow up, what better time than now.  If they have truly begun the vetting process, pay the man and let him move on...  They would be better served to get ahead of the others and make it known who they are after before the season ends.  After all, it's a bye week.  Who doesn't love writing a check for $15 million during a bye week.

I don't know where all this ends but there is something going on for sure. I think it is 50-50 at this point he returns.

Anwar Richardson reporting that Strong hasn't spoken with anyone associated with the Miami program.

I'd guess theres about a 5% chance Strong doesn't return next season.  He's not quitting - and UT isn't going to pay him 15 million to push him out the door.

Too bad another year of shitty football coming.

Bottom line in either scenario, Strong quits or gets fired, this will make Texas look terrible and not just from a new HC position but also a recruiting standpoint.   We dont even have a new AD yet.  He will be back unless he flat out walks away, which I just cant see that happening.

Just another note, Strong started out 2-4 in Louisville in his 2nd year (2011) but went 11-2 in his 3rd year.  The more I think about it the more I am convinced he needs more time.  He needs to get more of his kids.  Some of these upperclassmen just dont have any pride or talent and in some cases both.  The sooner they graduate the better.  I think it bothers Strong because its so bad that some of these guys lay down in games.

Give him 1-2 more recruiting cycles and a competent OC with an entire off season and I think Strong will turn it around.

Show me the quote where he says no one, including his agent, has talked with anyone associated with the Miami program about the position. I'm not saying he is leaving the university, but at the initial stage of hiring a coach, don't you think the coach's agent would be the one doing the talking with the other organization?

That's the thing, I think there are some that want it to happen so they believe the wheels are turning.  I'm not in that boat.

I'm still paddling the same boat I started in.  I didn't expect more than 6 wins this season and still think they'll finish 5-7, I looked at year three to form an opinion on Charlie from day 1.  It takes three years to flip a roster and most coaches really need four years with the youth that has risen to the top.  Too bad Charlie didn't walk into a situation like Florida or Michigan with a ton of upper class men that fit his style...

What agent?  Korn Ferry would have to reach out, they have been hired.
