2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

Yes Juan, there were no scholly limits then, but there are 2 ways to compare the 1967 bunch and the 2015 class if it does turn out to be a stellar class.

1.  If the 2015 class sweeps the field with the commitments and the uncommitted leans that are highly rated like we all hope, then a comparison to the overall talent gathered could be measured / compared to the 1967 bunch.  It could then be reasonably concluded that 2015 met, surpassed or not the 1967 class.

2.  Another comparison could be made with on the field results from the 2 classes.

The 1967 bunch could not play as freshmen - the frosh had their own team, so the W-L record for that group was over 3 years.  The '67 group record was (I believe): 30-2-1 (1968: 9-1-1, 1969: 11-0, 1970: 10-1) .  This included the 30 game winning streak - the longest in UT history.

To be a  fair comparison, the 2015 class would have to be measured for 3 years, Soph. - Senior years.  On the other hand , one could argue it would not be fair to take away their freshman year results to make the comparison.

I really care little about comparing this class to other classes to prove anything.  All I really care about is UT finishing the best we can with this 2015 class, putting a stick in aggy eyes and perhaps getting as high as the  #2 class in all the land.

Hook 'Em!!

Just matching 2002 will be tough on results

But we will see

Nice work though, I especially like the phrasing "sweep the field"

I so want to do that

I thought it was hard to tell on Locksley

Largely boilerplate response from him

But, clearly we need QBs

It also appears Charlie has a plan and is following it.  I also think the fact the we gave up somewhat easily on Gentry is a signal (or I hope it was). Charlie never did an in-home with him.  And, at the end, we sent only 2 assistants to see him.  Compare that to the recent visit with Lodge -- 7 coaches were there -- crikey mate, that's alot of coaches.

Bottom line for me, I just think we would have fought harder to keep Gentry on the train if we did not already have another plan in place at QB.
We may have sent 7 coaches to visit with Lodge because they may have gone for the purpose to recruit Joey McGuire to join the staff.

I don't think we had much to offer Gentry after we changed the offense and Harbaugh got involved.

Behold, my friends, this is the true definition of a mouth breather.

Brice Jones (yes the same Brice Jones TexasAgs reporter who showed up on Malik's doorstep at 10 pm the night before his ceremony to beg him to choose aggy) is saying the Demarco offer might be due to the fact that the in-home with Kris did not go very well.
Sorry I just woke up and I'm reviewing all I missed. A grown man went to a recruits house to beg? You can't be serious.

OB on Locksley visit

Mike Farrell from Rivals talking about Kai's in home with Jimbo last night, says that Kai's dad got to ask Jimbo all of the questions he had and that they came away very happy with the answers they got. Kai is still leaning towards FSU because of how Jimbo develops quarterbacks, especially EJ Manuel, who Kai's father is very familiar with from his time recruiting him. Farrell thinks that Strong will have to come in and really blow them away with his pitch. Kai's family thinks he would be better served taking a redshirt year rather than being thrown into action like he could be at Texas.

If KM is Plan A...

and Kai is Plan B...

then I hope CS has a Plan C.      I think Kai is going to be a Nole.

I heard, through the grapevine, that there were a couple of coaches that weren't really that high on Gentry.  Not because they didn't like him as a QB, but because they knew there would be a change in the offense and he didn't seem like a good fit.

By-the-way, I'm a little disappointed that I didn't get any "likes" for my comment about a dearth of QB's shaping up. :)

See, I don't really get this.  There are two QB's ahead of him at UT and I thought being a RS was almost a given.  The kid is still raw as a QB and needs LOTS of work before he is ready as a D-1 college QB.

Last night I went to bed feeling pretty good about things. After reading everything I missed over the night and into the morning I don't feel so good. I believe we lose out on both QBs. Which to me means we lose out on others we are going after.

You are reading way too much into what Locksley told a FSU reporter. The Longhorn report after Strong's in home visit will make you feel like he's coming to Texas. Where does Locksley end up, who knows. But the recent news doesn't tell me a thing. 99 percent of the time in home visits go well and that swings momentum in the eyes of recruiting analysts. What Locksley said is pretty much the norm.
