Been a while since we've had a BBQ thread.  Last night I put a 13# brisket on the pit, and today, added 4 racks of St. Louis style ribs.  Key to the ribs was, I got a tip from a buddy, NorthTexasHorn, to add Whataburger Honey Butter to the final step of the ribs.  I must say-AWESOME!  I still used the Salt Lick Garlic Rub on the ribs.  Nice mix of spice to sweetness.

Here are the  pictures.

Weather last night was mid 40s, calm, a bit of rain on and off.  I was out in the pit with the dog, a bit of Austin's KOKE FM streaming, some Willet Rye in the glass, and a nice Cuban cigar to keep me company.

Have any specific questions, fire away.

I'd really like to hear what kind of ways you've prepared ribs that may be a bit different, and what your thoughts of the finished product were.

I guess the only benefit of living in Canada is legal Cubans.
Don't forget legal pot, women with grooming issues, rain 70% of the year, no TexMex, full bar at strip clubs, no Whataburger, and until only recently-scarce supply of Shiner Bock.

Best BBQ in Texas? Country Tavern on Hwy 31 between Tyler and Kilgore. Never eaten better

ribs, ever, anywhere, anytime. And I've been around FWIW.

EDIT: This topic is about cooking BBQ, not where the best can be bought. I apologize for

intruding and digressing. I recommend the Country Tavern for "store bought" though.

There are no rules here.  This is a good place to chew the fat, (so to speak,) and discuss BBQ, whether homemade or store bought.  I appreciate the input.

lol dangit this thread has gotten me hungry lol in a good way i got over 10 different bbq sauce recipes that i make..i never buy store bought bbq sauce ..i feel it doesnt put the zinger onto the meat..Canada is not very popular for any bbq smoking at all..well with the exception of Alberta ..In Calgary they do alot of bbqing during the Calgary Stampede..thats why i cant wait to move back to Texas..

Like the idea of the Whataburger Honey Butter, I'll have to try it. I usually use some squeeze butter, honey, and a little bit of a brown sugar when I wrap it.

While it's not quite as over the top magnificent as Franklin, Terry Black's BBQ on Barton Springs Road is easily #2 in Austin for me. I like it better than his grandad's place in Lockhart. Just maybe the best potato salad I have ever had.

1. Jeff, Canyon Lake is calling, get out.

2. Johnny Trigg has used Parkay and Honey for years along with the 3-2-1 method.

3. No disrespect to Stanley's but Country Tavern is the best. Does Stanley's have pictures of ex- Presidents and Robert Duvall on the wall? I don't know, maybe so.  To be fair I've never eaten Stanley's ribs but CT's are mighty fine.

BBQ sauce(on anything) is like watching somebody put store brand ketchup on a Filet Mignon.

We are going to need to get an annual Horn Sports BBQ get together or something going.

I getting hungry for some good BBQ!
