2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

Anyone want to try and rank, by need or importance, the last tickets aboard the Charlie Train?

Note who you think but rather who you wish/want

i thought the first 4 were easy to rank but I struggled after that

I would love to know the coaches' thoughts on this right now

DT Daylon Mack

OT Drew Richmond
QB Kai Locksley/transfer
RB Chris Warren
CB Mark Fields
CB Holton Hill
CB Kris Boyd
WR Gilbert Johnson
WR Damarkus Lodge
WR Carlos Strickland
WR/KR Ryan Newsome
RB Nick Brossette
CB Sheldrick Redwine

The first two are critical to me because you need solid DL and OL players to control the line of scrimmage.  If you can do that, then everything else starts to fall n place.

I see Mack being the most important for a couple reasons.

1.  Texas needs to be the team that controls East Texas.  By being that team, you help eliminate that SEC myth.

2.  Mack is an unbelievable play maker that will only get better.

After these two I'm happy with whomever jumps on board.

And you thought the day was over .....

From Blake Munroe --

I heard from a very reliable source this afternoon that a backup quarterback at a current Top 25 program (from one of the power five conferences) is in the process of reaching out to the Horns' coaching staff about transferring in to Texas.

Out of respect for the kid and his family I can't release the name yet, but he was a Rivals four-star coming out of high school with offers from some of the nation's top programs and was considered one of the nation's top signal callers as a recruit.

If it did work out, he would instantly push for the starting job.... there's no doubt about that. He's checking out a few other programs as well, but the Longhorns are extremely high on his (and his family's) list. He's always liked Texas, a lot.

It's also worth noting that Shawn Watson recruited said QB while he was in high school.

I agree about the line of scrimmage but number one importance is QB, only two people touch the ball every play. Center and QB, you can't neglect that or you will end up only gaining on 59 yards in a bowl game. NOTHING matters if we don't fix those two positions.

I can answer that for ya Coach it was Mack's staff and Baylor recruited him hard big time this was awhile back before he moved to Gilmer...then again i gotta look it up im not for sure lol myself couldve for sure thought it was macks but then again it could be strongs staff

The only one I would change would be Fields above Warren. A top flight CB is hard to come by. Texas seems to always have good RB's to choose from, but a shutdown corner is hard to find.

Sho, I think you are right. Daughter was in same class at Troup, and I think it was before Coach Strong got here

I know Miss. St did, heard Oregon came by...several others.but Baylor as far as I know recruited him the best. Did hear one time he went down to Austin but felt like staff was slow playing him...I don't remember if that was Mack's staff or Strongs
I wish Texas would have recruited him harder. After seeing Gilmer play, I thought that he was the best player on the team.

and Juan??? Drew Richmond??? whats the story on him????? I noticed you got him on the list didnt he commit already?

Munroe indicated it is not not Driskel

I thought it might be due to the Watson connection

This is probably a good thing since Driskel looked pretty bad (although maybe not all his fault)

No, but he is visiting

Current Ole Miss commit

I think his visits are --

Jan 16 Bama

Jan 23 Ole Miss

Jan 30 Texas

QB play is critical but if you have OL like Hughes it doesnt really matter who the QB is.

Currently, I believe Texas only has 6 scholarship OL on this team.  That is terrible.  Right now, they need help in both positions.

Have to reiterate a prior poster: would a transfer such as this guy count vs the 2015 limit?
A transfer does not count against the recruiting class of 25. You have to be a first-time student at a NCAA school (or JUCO) to be in the class.

A transfer would, however, count against the 85 total.

Not to be a dick but I can think of 8 players off the top of my head that shouldn't be on the team next year.

Miller was a 4-star and seems to fit the other parameters laid out by Munroe

And he is old enough that he would not have to sit out a year

ps -- another that would fit those parameters is Tyler O'Connor (2012) from Michigan State

Any info/rumblings on Drew Richmond? I haven't heard anything since he had some interest in Texas.
