2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

Tom Loy flipped his crystal ball pick to Texas for Brossette today. It's now 50/50 between Texas and LSU. Interesting.

WARNING: This thread will be locked and preserved on 1/1/15. It is an amazing compilation of recruiting updates and news, but it is now cumbersome.  We've received feedback from many of you and listened to that feedback.

1. There are too many people interested in specific recruiting news about a player that are not willing to sift through 150+ pages.

2. There is enough traffic and interest now to support a thread on an individual player.

As we head toward Signing Day, updates and discussion should become more frequent. Feel free to start a new thread with a specific update, or look for a thread on a specific player and post it there.

We are confident this will make it easier for folks to stay updated on a particular recruit.

Thanks!
Wait...now we're gonna have entire threads devoted to individual recruits?

Overkill, but to each his own

I agree with several of the others about having one thread for recruiting news.  It is easier to scroll through one instead of clicking on 5 to 10 different threads about individual players.  I always pickup where I left off on the previous post.
I would prefer things stay like they have been...but what do I know...Etex only pawn in game of life...

Ok, I'm ready to just throw my hands up. Things are happening that I don't understand.

1. My confidence in John Burt's commitment to Texas is about as low as it can get without just saying it's not a commitment. Right now, it's 50-50 between Auburn and Texas. I think we lose him. A spot is then opened.

2. Despite the tight numbers, things are popping at the RB recruitment. Warren is likely a Texas pledge, whenever he decides to announce. We're still after Soso and Brossette? Yes, we are. How we get them crammed into this class is beyond me.

3. Davis, Irvin, Clarrington, Newsome, Boyd, Hill, Mack, a QB (Staver?), Warren – that's 9. Where will the room be for Soso or Brossette or even any of the WRs we're still talking to? What if Wheeler picks UT? Just learned today that he's not taken an OV anywhere. He has visited UT unofficially.

My mind is bending trying to make sense of this.

I think Lodge ends up at Ole Miss, but it is a very good sign that UT is getting a visit. Don't have much of a feel for Newsome. UT will get either Soso, Warren, or Brossette but Washington could make it tough to get Warren. I think Strickland goes either UCLA or UT.

Is the staff expecting some more transfers to open up more headcount?  Or is that how it works, if 3-4 more guys transfer out does that translate into that many more scholarships?

I believe they're all holding to announce at the All Star game... Big splash!

This looks like the Tim Tebow, I mean Mallik Jefferson effect that Coach Strong was talking about.

I think the staff is just trying to make sure they end up with every spot filled with as many quality players as possible. The lack of depth and competition at each position probably made them sick to there stomach. Its a lot better to have to people banging down the door to get in than to have to be begging recruits to "give us a shot".

I'm not sure that would matter. I think there's only so many you can take in one single class. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I've thought that the powers that be have studied this year's situation and determined that 31 was the max number.

I like the current format also, if i don't log on for a few hrs i just click to the previous page and i love reading the updates.

Thanks to those that post, keep it up.

Warren then Brossette then Jamabo in terms of RB needs for us, IMO.

Kai visiting is big too bc he is the son of a college coach and a very good DT-QB.

Mack, Lodge, Boyd and Hill should be flooded with UT mail and phone calls from coaches(when dead period ends) and current commits.

Florida 5 would be great and we should know this week!

Drew Richmond is a damn good OT and needed for this class.

I too am not confident in Burt right now. If we lose him and get Lodge, its a great trade. Cant afford to lose both.

I am of the school of thought that the kids need to take the visits and see whats out there then pick Texas!

Trying to read the tea leaves on Wheeler, in that video, he said  he is very aware of our LB depth chart going into next season and that the most important thing to him as a deciding factor was relationship with the staff.  And then, from another interview, he said the Coach he's formed the best relationship with is our LB Coach Brian Jean-Mary.

So, even though ou is still considered the house favorite at this point, we have a legitimate shot.  Jefferson, Cherry and Wheeler would be a pretty nice haul at LB to add to the DB haul we seemed destined to land.

Yeah I'm starting to think we might have a shot with Wheeler. Wheeler hanging out with Elliott certainly isn't a bad sign.

Kai tweeted about 7 to 10 days ago, and in his tweet it was obvious that Coach Strong had his attention in a good way.  If I remember correctly, it was shortly after the Poteet Two committed.  I should have mentioned it at the time, but things have been popping quickly.  Our coaches must celebrate Christmas in March.

The Wheeler recruitment actually reminds me a lot of the Malik recruitment. The OU mods at 247 ran with a story that Wheeler was a heavy lean to OU and that created a ripple effect throughout 247 (that's when all the crystal balls started flipping for Wheeler to OU). Same thing happened with Malik when Hamm released that story. There sure seems to be signs like Juan posted above that Wheeler might favor Texas. Same could be said for Malik with his family favoring Texas and the fact that A&M didn't have a DC.

Which I guess leads us to the question, why is Wheeler considered a heavy OU lean?

Y'all that talk about Lodge and Burt, shouldn't forget about Newsome and Deandre.  We shouldn't forget about Hager and Townsend, either.  I am really excited about them.  I hope that Newsome makes his announcement soon, but whatever happens, I feel like a kid at Christmas.

Hook 'em!
