The NCAA Baseball Transfer Portal continues to yield dividends for Texas head coach Jim Schlossnagle, this time from left-handed pitcher Cal Higgins. Higgins, a 6-4, 245 lb. reliever, spent his first season at Iowa Western Community College before transferring to Western Kentucky University in 2023. He enjoyed a productive season for the Hilltoppers this year, appearing in 22 games and throwing 43.1 innings. Higgins struck out 52 batters and walked 11, ending the season with an ERA of 1.87.
Accolades this season for Higgins include 2025 All-Conference USA Second Team and 2025 ABCA/Rawlings All-Midwest Region Second Team. He entered the portal on June 9th and has one season of eligibility remaining with the Longhorns.
